Doula Services
All doula clients have access to the Birthways Client Lending Library.
As a doula, I work independently for you. I am not working for your care provider or the hospital. I am an advocate for you and your wishes. I do not make decisions for you. I provide you with information, resources, and support to help you make your own informed decisions
Types of Doula Services:
High Risk Antepartum Doula
If you develop pregnancy complications or if you are pregnant and experiencing problems related to pre-existing medical conditions, I offer high risk antepartum doula care for women in the hospital or at home.
Services include doula care that focuses on emotional and informational support and counseling, healing, and nourishing your whole self. If you are on limited activity or bed rest at home, my antepartum services are very similar to my postpartum services and can include help with caring for other children.
I charge a fee per visit. Each visit is 1-2 hours in length.
Labor Doula (the heart of Birthways)
My labor doula services include:
- 2 prenatal visits (initial consult & birth planning meeting)
- Unlimited phone and e-mail contact for questions and support
- Access to the Birthways client lending library
- If you develop pregnancy complications or go into preterm labor, 1-2 high risk antepartum visits are included in the labor doula fee. If you would like >2 high risk antepartum visits, additional fees apply (applicable fee/visit).
- Continuous doula care throughout your labor and birth
- Immediate postpartum care and breastfeeding assistance for 1-2 hours after birth
- 1-2 postpartum visits within the first two weeks following the birth. If you would like >2 postpartum visits, additional fees apply (applicable fee/visit).
I charge a flat fee. Labor doula services are available for home birth or hospital birth.
Postpartum Doula
If you are primarily interested in support after the birth, I offer postpartum doula care. Services can include all or some of the following: emotional and informational support, breastfeeding support, mother care, newborn care, new mother support (helping with the transition into motherhood and the normal hormonal shifts that happen postpartum), wise woman support with homeopathy and herbs, assistance around the house (cooking, cleaning, laundry, dishes), resources/referrals.
I make 4 home visits in the first 6 weeks postpartum. Each visit is 1-2 hours in length. I charge a flat fee. If you would like >4 postpartum visits, additional fees apply (applicable fee/visit).
