Doula Plus
The following services may be added-on to the applicable doula service, if desired.
Monitrice Option (can be added to labor doula services)
A monitrice combines labor support skills with nursing skills such as:
- Taking blood pressure
- Listening to fetal heart tones (with a Doppler)
- Performing vaginal exams
All clinical skills are performed only at the mother’s request. This service can also include wise woman support with homeopathy and herbs, if desired.
I offer this option to clients who are interested in staying at home as long as possible in early labor. This option allows a woman to establish an active labor pattern before going into the hospital and can significantly reduce the introduction and use of unnecessary interventions in the natural process of labor and birth.
I charge a flat fee of $150 that applies to all labor doula clients.
Overnight Stay (applies to all high risk antepartum and postpartum doula clients)
If you would like me to stay overnight with you at the hospital or in your home, I charge $20/hour (usually 8-12 hours).
For the antepartum period, I offer supportive overnight care for pregnant mothers experiencing high risk complications (at home or in the hospital).
For the postpartum period, I offer in home, overnight newborn care and feeding assistance/breastfeeding support, so new mothers can sleep through the night or between feedings. I am also available to care for mother and baby overnight the first night postpartum (after a home birth) or the first night home (after a hospital birth).
